Junk includes waste items like utensils which are useless and have rust on them (– you do not necessarily need to get rid of them since we mention ahead on how to get rid of rust on kitchen appliances and utensils), appliances that do not work anymore, broken containers, expired products, etc

According to reader’s digest’s post –

You need to get rid of  that scratched up cutting board, that over frozen food, scratched non stick pans, old spices, plastic cutlery, old plastic storage containers, Chipped plates, bowls, mugs; The junk drawer; Extra cups and mugs

If you’re doing it with any of the above, if it is not too harsh, before scrubbing vigorously, leave it on for some time so that whatever hard substances are stuck there, they can soften.

Then scrub and rinse thoroughly.

You may end with spraying a Colin like spray. Especially if your stove has a glass top.

Then wipe out the excess moisture, or you could let it dry on its own.

How to make a floor cleaner?

How to make a floor cleaner? - step by stepI have taken a regular fridge bottle. I have added water but not filled it to the top because we will be adding some things. It has a capacity of 1 litre.

Firstly I am adding a few camphor balls you can get it from any nearby departmental store. It acts as a disinfectant. It keeps mosquitoes and flies away. You may crush and add them

Then we add around 3-4 tablespoon salt. This also works as a disinfectant and keeps insects away.

Then we are adding alum. It cleans the water.

You may add essential oils for fragrance. It is optional.

Leave this mixture for one night. You may use it even if the camphor and alum are not fully dissolved.

All around 500 ml in 2-3 litre water when mopping the floor.

You need to make sure that you keep this away from children. Keep it safely labelled in a place where your children can not access it.

How to make a Kitchen cleaner?

We’re taking some water in a mug. Around ½ litre.

I’m adding 100 ml vinegar into it.

Then we are adding 2 teaspoons baking soda. The foam is temporary. It will settle soon.

Then add any dish wash soap 3-4 drops. They are not very harsh.

Then I’m adding essential oil.

You can add it daily on the basis of your mood. You may add it immediately while using for a new fragrance every day. Add 10-15 drops.

Use a spray bottle, fill it with the mix.

I’m adding extra virgin olive oil. This makes it useful for furniture especially wooden.

You need not add olive oil if you will use it for kitchen purpose only.

How to clean kitchen appliances?

We need to clean the appliances too, like the dishwasher, oven, etc.

If dirt and gooey things are stuck in them, then baking soda is our saviour.

Apply a paste of baking soda and vinegar/ baking soda and lemon juice and let it sit. Then scrub it out.

Do a second round of scrubbing with detergent. Then rinse thoroughly to get the perfect finish.

Make sure you get the appliances frequently serviced.

How to clean kitchen utensils?

How to clean kitchen utensils? step by stepEven if you use a dishwasher, you should wash your utensils by hand also sometimes. Dishwashers tend to leave certain difficult spots.

If you see white stains on your dishes when they come straight out of your dishwasher, or any other chemical stains or odours, make sure you get your dishwasher regularly serviced because otherwise, it leaves it is salt and dish shiner stains on the utensils. This can be harmful because their detergent salts and shining liquid chemicals could end up in your stomach through your food. And all this could be prevented by just the regular servicing of your dishwasher.

You should clean your safely kept crockery also in order to keep them shining new and in a good condition. Make it a rule to clean that fancy cutlery when you are giving your kitchen a makeover.

Get all those glasses and fancy china out and give them a bath.

How to clean kitchen brushes?

Your brushes that clean bottles also need cleaning.

Leave them in warm water containing either a mild soap or baking soda or salt. This will soften its bristles and will also disinfect it.

After leaving it overnight, wash with mild soap and run through warm water thoroughly.

If your brush is too difficult, the market also has some smaller brushes that are meant to clean larger brushes. Shop online or in your local market.

How to clean kitchen drawers?

If your drawers are wooden, you may use the cleaning spray we displayed in the DIY section. Start with dusting them properly, then depending on the material, give them a wash with a suitable chemical.

To keep them cleaner, you can simply put newspaper ( a cheap alternative ) as shelf covers. You might be wondering what its use will be. Next time when you decide on cleaning your drawers, you could just pull out your newspaper and all the dust will be out because it was on it.

If you do not like the idea of putting newspapers, you can buy shelf covers.
